Advancing Cures Today (ACT) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing funding for the National Institutes of Health to advance life-saving medical research for patients around the world. In the midst of volatile congressional budget discussions, ACT needed to make sure their message was heard by the individuals who matter most: Members of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Rather than blanket the nation’s capital with advertisements and op-eds in hopes of reaching a handful of congressional decision makers, ACT partnered with Synoptos. By placing targeted advertisements in the Senate Appropriations Committee News Brief, which is delivered to every member of the committee and their staff by Synoptos on a daily basis, ACT ensured their message was heard loud and clear.
With a 70% open rate, ACT successfully reached significantly more members of congress than they would have through a traditional media relations strategy—for less money and in less time. By narrowing their communications efforts to congressional committee members, ACT was able to appeal directly to key decision-makers, and effectively advance the cause of biomedical research.
